I've done my best to do *extensive* research, but a lot of it, doesn't seem like 'research'. It's overall not recommended because of the following reasons:
- 'Mother's may use in place of regular OB care' (not applicable to me. I still see my Dr regularly)
- 'May provide a false sense of security' (without a doppler, wouldn't we still have a false sense of security if we only see the DR once a month? Aren't we to assume everything is A-Ok unless we have signs/symptoms that say otherwise?)
- 'Inaccurate results' (I don't think we're pretending to be Dr's. I think we just want to hear our baby. I don't even look at the bpm)
- Doppler may be used incorrectly or defective (As with most things in life, this can happen.)
- Improper Use or Human Error. (also it happens. Where's the harm though?)
I've found very little evidence to support harm to the mother or baby, especially in intermittent and short term use. There's mentions of being exposed to heat and sound waves, but no evidence that the use of a doppler has caused any harm to mother or baby.
Just wondering if anyone read any thing different or has other feedback.

I threw mine in the trash I spent way too much time with my first pregnancy trying to lay still and find his heartbeat. This pregnancy I’m just riding it out. Whatever happens happens and there’s nothing a Doppler can do to change anything. I feel so much more at peace!
I do think they are safe to use but can really put a strain on your mental health.

I use mine probably every other day. I'm almost 18wks if I feel like extra stressed out or if I'm out in sun and I feels hot. I just check uo on him it just gives me comfort. it's funny I hear him like a few seconds then he moves 🤣. It's like hi mom bye mom. I'm fine ma just leave me alone

I wanted to get one but hubs was like leave it (pregnancy) alone. It’s progressing perfectly, let’s not add extra stress. The Dr found baby heartbeat at 13 weeks with the Doppler after maybe 3-5 mins, it was a nice 150 beats. Soo.. I’m trying to relax as much as possible.

I use mine maybe once to twice a week, I try not to overdue it because of anxiety. I’m fortunate though because I see my baby like every 3 or so weeks through my MFM and OB (OB has a hand held ultrasound for every appt)

I have used one several times a week since first finding the heartbeat earlier on. Sometimes, I use it every day in a week, and other times, I only get around to it a few times a week. I have been able to find the heartbeat pretty quick every time, so, pretty much, as soon as I hear it for a few seconds, I am done for the day.

I use mine every morning, just a quick little check up! it gives me huge comfort hearing their little heart best as I caught parvovirus b19 at 9 weeks so I am been scanned every 2 weeks because of that also but I find the doppler great for my anxiety! also used one in my last pregnancy 6 years ago not as frequently but I bought it as I had a mmc previously, I think there brilliant devices!
